This semester students in ART 422 “Contemporary Design Issues” worked with UB Green to create a student-oriented campaign spotlighting UB’s environmental stewardship and actions students can take to keep their campus green. The campaign features a whimsical, “wheel-of-fortune” information kiosk and poster series, a student website offering an online energy saving tool kit and a contest to win student designed green products.
Students in Visual Studies 425/525 “Designed Play” will showcase multimedia projects, public interventions and interactive games exploring the changing role of “play” and its impact on contemporary cultural production as a design medium. Using a variety of platforms and technologies including Second Life, Google Maps and the great outdoors, the activity of “play” is engaged to address sensitive issues concerning surveillance, bioethics, nationalization and college stereotyping.
