Tyrone
Georgiou Bio Born and raised in New York City he began his photographic and design career working with an advocate architecture group, The Architect’s Renewal Committee in Harlem in the mid 1960’s. He received his BFA and MFA in Photography from the Yale University in 1972 and also became an Assistant Professor of the Art at UB that same year. Georgiou has received numerous grants and fellowships including a National Endowment for the Arts Artist Fellowship, a Creative Artist Public Service Fellowship, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship. His work has been exhibited in solo and group shows nationally and internationally and he is represented in a number of important photographic collections including The International Museum of Photography at the George Eastman House, The Polaroid Collection, and the Los Angles County Museum. Besides his long-term leadership role in the photography option, Georgiou
has held a number of other administrative positions including two terms
as Chair of the department, and one year as Acting Director of the
School of Art at the University of Oklahoma. He currently serves as the
Associate
Dean for Undergraduate Education in the College of Arts and Sciences. |
