Objectives

Students will use Adobe Illustrator commands and tools to construct and edit vector objects (type, points, lines, and filled shapes.)


Skills Used

Tools and techniques covered in this tutorial:

type — setting, editing, creating outlines, transforming (text on a path, filling a shape, text effects)

stroke (thickness and color) and fill (color) — default values/changing

freeform drawing — pencil, brushes

pen tool — curves, points and paths

selection arrows — selection, direct selection, group selection

transforming objects — move, duplicate, scale, rotate, shear, distort

Envelope Distort - Using a mesh

reshaping objects — Pencil, Smoothing tool, Scissors, Knife

complex fills and strokes — gradient fills, brush strokes

color (picker, swatches)


Requirements

In-class. Follow the steps to create an image based on the example shown.

Submit: Native Illustrator .ai file, uploaded to to the appropriate section of VS2 / Coursework / ART 250.
