ePic's Community Printshop permits individuals experienced in printmaking to apply membership and engage in the creation of their own prints in the Dept of Visual Studies Print Labs. To maintain the integrity of our educational mission and quality of the facilities, applicants must demonstrate a knowledge of the print processes they will undertake, along with the ability to work independently and safely. POLICY: The main criteria for acceptance into the Community Printshop is a sufficient printmaking knowledge and skills for the appropriate and safe use of facilities and equipment. For those with no prior printmaking experience, ePic Workshops or Undergraduate print courses are available on a non-matriculating basis to gain acceptance into ePic's Community Printshop. Our primary mission is educational, and we ask that Printshop participants be sensitive and courteous to the needs of our students enrolled in Printmaking courses. We reserve the right to remove any Printshop participant who engages in dangerous activities, through ignorance or otherwise, or who has blatant disregard for the well being of students, the facilities and/or equipment. All work undertaken should be of the artists origin, no editions for hire or contract printing is permitted. All participants must pay appropriate fees to remain in good standing and keep assigned storage space. All personal materials must be removed when membership expires and it is not renewed. ORIENTATION: All new participants are required to attend an orientation conducted by the Print Technician before they begin work. Hours of the building and days it will be closed are posted the main vestibule. Monday Through Friday: 7 AM - 11 PM CFTA Is Closed For College Observed Holidays PARKING: Parking permits are available for printshop participants through the UB Parking Office for a $6.50 fee. LAB AVAILABILITY: During the Fall & Spring Semester studios are generally open Friday, Saturday & Sunday until 7 PM and M-TR in the evenings until 10 PM. Summer Hours are reduced and an access code is provided. Call for detailed open studio schedule as available lab hours change each semester. Printshop participants are limited to a maximum 20 hours per week use. Periodically the print labs are used for other Art Department or ePIC activities, therefore we reserve the right to close any lab to Community Printshop participants during these times. Fees may be paid at orientation or anytime prior to starting. Major Credit Cards or Checks accepted made payable to: UB Foundation Inc. TECHNICAL AND/OR PRINTING ASSISTANCE Printshop participants requiring technical assistance or instruction may arrange for this in advance through the print tech. Fees are charged on an hourly basis at $25.00 per hour per person. |
